Equal Milligrams, Unequal Molecules: The Molar Ratio Inside a 5 mg + 5 mg Blend
Blend names often list equal milligram amounts, which suggests an even split. Chemists count molecules, not milligrams, and the two can be far apart when the molecules differ in size. The Nasal Wolverine 10mg listing, with BPC-157 at 5 mg and TB-500 at 5 mg, is a perfect example.
The math
Micromoles equal milligrams divided by molecular weight in thousands (mg ÷ g/mol × 1000).
| Component | Mass | Approx. MW | Micromoles |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPC-157 | 5 mg | 1419.5 | about 3.5 |
| TB-500 as Ac-LKKTETQ fragment | 5 mg | 889 | about 5.6 |
| Full-length thymosin beta-4 (43 aa) | 5 mg | 4963 | about 1.0 |
Why the TB-500 definition changes everything
The name TB-500 is used for different things. If it means the short seven-residue fragment, the blend holds roughly 1.6 times more TB-500 molecules than BPC-157. If it means the full 43-residue protein, BPC-157 molecules outnumber it about 3.5 to 1. Same milligram label, opposite molecular balance.
What to do with this
- Check the certificate of analysis for the measured mass of each component.
- Note which TB-500 your supplier means.
- Calculate in micromoles when comparing studies.
Values are approximate and ignore salts and water content, which lower the true peptide amount.
