Man Applies Seven Serums at Once, Peptides Request Union Representation
A man applied seven serums, two acids and a retinoid to his face on Sunday night, prompting the peptides in the third serum to request legal representation.
“We were told we’d have the whole shift to ourselves,” said one peptide. “Instead we’re stuck between glycolic acid and a guy named Vitamin C.”
The real issue: the skin barrier
The outer layer of skin works like a brick wall: skin cells are the bricks and lipids are the mortar. Over-exfoliating or stacking harsh actives can crack that wall, which leads to irritation, redness and more breakouts. A damaged barrier is one of the common reasons acne-prone skin gets worse, not better.
Where peptide research fits
- Signal peptides are studied in cell models for roles in barrier repair
- Copper peptide GHK-Cu is widely studied for tissue repair signaling
- Research tends to test one variable at a time, unlike this man
The peptides have since been moved to a calmer shift. The man has been asked to please just use a moisturizer.
