Satire: Choose Your Own Adventure, You Are a Vial of DSIP
Satire. Fictional characters and events, written for fun. Nothing here describes real results.
You are DSIP: nine residues, Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu. You are freeze-dried, calm and slightly acidic. The delivery truck hits a bump.
Chapter 1: The truck
The box warms in the afternoon sun. Do you (A) panic, or (B) remember that lyophilized powder holds up far better than a solution because there is no water for hydrolysis? Correct answer: B. You continue to Chapter 2.
Chapter 2: The porch
The box sits outside for two hours. Do you (A) melt into a puddle, or (B) do nothing, because dry powder just sits there? B. You are a patient peptide.
Chapter 3: The lab
The researcher opens the box. Do you hope to be (A) stored at the back of a frost-free freezer, or (B) stored where the temperature does not cycle? B. Frost-free freezers warm up periodically to melt frost, and that cycling is hard on peptides.
Chapter 4: The solvent
You are about to be dissolved. Do you want (A) a random liquid, or (B) a properly chosen diluent? B. As an acidic peptide you dissolve best near neutral to slightly basic conditions.
The ending
You live a long, stable life. Read the research listing for DSIP 5mg, then turn to the next story. Keep reading.
